How do i hide my folders ? You can do that like this right click on the folder or file which you want to hide and goto the last option of properties and click it then a windows appears which gives you three options, Readonly,Archive,Hidden. you can click on hidden and click ok and refesh the page and its Gone.. wow.. ok now this was a real simple way that even kids know. and it can be defused by anybody like this Goto My Computer => View => Folder Options and in there go to View and scroll down and you can see the options like this :-

        1) Donot show hidden files
        2) Donot Show Hidden or System Files
        3) Show All Files

And now any kid who can click the third option name Show all files. can view all the files in windows which are hidden by users. so now i am sure you wont rely on this type of security, right ? ok now let me teach you how to make your folders inaccessible by everybody except you.

Now let me Start, Make a Folder On C:\ named '1' and put all your files that you want to hide in that folder, ok now Goto Minimise all the Windows and Goto Start => Programs => MS-Dos Prompt. Click on it and go to the command prompt now you get a prompt like this "C:\WINDOWS" now just type "cd \"(Without " ofcourse) or "cd .." and now you are at C: not list the directories using dir command. and it gives you the list of all the directories on C: now you can also see the directory you just created and stored all your files in it. now the point is rename the file with Ascii Characters or symbols so that windows cannot recognise the file and you can do this by typing  :-

                                                "ren 1 _"

Now its not just a simple underscore, it is entirely differeny symbol but due to limitations in windows all the symbols look like underscore and to get this symbol you will have to type like this

                                            "ren 1 Alt+7899"

Hold down the Alter Key while pressing "7899" and see the symbol in dos and then have a look at it in windows, its entirely different so you got my point now i think you can do it easily. Its not compulsary to use 7899 you can use any combination but make sure there are some characters which are recognised by windows so if you use them just cross check them by clicking the folder in windows and if it opens the folder, try other combination or else it will give you a Error message like this The Folder C:\_ doesnot exist, which is good for you :) ok now when u changed the name of the folder and made it inaccessible no one can delete it rename it or do anything with it now you can be tension free for your files. But you know still this folder shows up in the directory listing and you want to hide it you can do it by typing this command prompt

                                            "attrib +h +r _"

And viola your folder is hidden, and now when you want to see the contents of the file you just type this command

                                            "attrib -h -r _"

And it will become unhidden and now you can change back the name of the folder with your alphabet or number like this

                                             "ren _ 1"

And now goto C: and you will probably access all the files in your folder, maybe you can say that ascii characters act as a password for you and now i am sure that you can hide your files from everybody and you have command over you files or folders :) Here is a list of Ascii Character which can be used in case you forget the number you typed. Its easy to hack but probably nobody around you knows that what Ascii Characters are just know the Full Form of it :) This Technique can be used in windows 95,97,98,98se and Windows ME. But Windows 2000 can open these Ascii Folders. I havent tested it on NT. so cant say but i think even NT can open it. well anyways, you got a bit more secure in windows 9x which is most insecure operating systems around. :)

Table of ASCII Characters

This table lists the ASCII characters and their decimal, octal and hexadecimal numbers. Characters which appear as names in parentheses (e.g., (nl)) are non-printing characters. A table of the common non-printing characters appears after this table.
